Well lately these past few weeks i have basically neglected playing any poker, ive just been doing my own thing and relaxing, going out or whatever, playing football manager too much :(

Well all in all just not good enough at all

I had high high targets and let myself down massively, i took 3 individual whole months off, some months i played i played about 50-70 hrs work.

You could call it lazy but its not that, its a mental thing, if youre not in the right mental state you cant play, well you shouldnt play and i know when im not in the right mental state which unfortunately was too often this year, although there were glimmers of good times

I can work extremely hard and grind extremely hard when im focused so i should have made sure i was focused often enough

2009 has been a year when i have got to know a lot of my faults a lot more

I started 2009 with a lot of enthusiasm on a good run having made a few mistakes the previous two years, a few blips of gambling, bad mental states and over spending, but on the whole 2008 and 2007 i did what i had to do and i was where i wanted to be.

The problem was i was just not as mature as i thought i was or that i needed to be, to be young and to be making this sort of money does distort things but the fact is i was just immature in so many ways in 2009

Every year older i get every year i look back and think god i was young and stupid then, im thinking when will that stop! Experience is so vital in so many aspects of life.

I hope im mature enough right now to take myself to the next level, it took a sick amount of hard work driven by ambition to get from £1k to £10k, then to get from £10k to £50k took another year of hard work with the same ambition (with mistakes still leaking) 2009 i wanted to go even further but wow how i messed that up

£85 000 i made, down from the previous year despite the fact im twice maybe three probably ten times a better player

I put in probably 75% less hours though and was in a bad mental state 75% more of the time

I lost a whole lot of money gambling on blackjack too which ill always regret and curse for probably the rest of my life, such a stupid thing to do and its given me massive setbacks mentally and money wise

I have a lot of money saved but i could have had so so so much more if i had just been level headed, not gambled

Although i was a gambler when i got into poker, thats why i got into it, ive always been a gambler

I think of myself (being modest) as a really clever person, i suppose most people think that about themselves and it shocks me that i could do something so ridiculous as to lose chunks of money on blackjack.

I honestly think im over that, for one ive never admitted it on this site, the hurt ive experienced from it is too much.

Well anyway this new year is brilliant for me, a complete fresh start

I started again from December 21st, that was my new year, i totalled everything up from before the 21st December and that was my 2009

2010 started for me on the same Dcemeber 21st

A new important fresh mental approach, i had my set plans and targets, play as much as possible, keep to a routine in life

I was going to wait until January 1st but i didnt want to waste any time and hopefully the games would be good over the christmas period

That day was chose btw because the week leading up to it was my last gambling/blackjack blow up when i literally burn money i worked relatively hard for

I was hurting and instead of spiralling into a jamsym type world I needed to get re focused, and reach all my dreams and targets for my life as soon as possible, no more set backs

This might not be around forever and im getting older, 22 now so this is so the best time to have a lot of money, not that 22 is old just saying

Anyway i digress a lot

Its been 10 days since i started myself a fresh and im doing well

Im clearing my to do list on time, im sticking to my eating plan, i still have my football 3 times a week, ive budgeted my sepnding and of course ive cut out all blackjack

In my best days in 2008 and 2007 i lived by a strict routine, its so important

Ive learnt from my mistakes

Im not saying i hope or hopefully this time, i have and now 2010 is going to be a year when i work really hard and keep focused, lets see where that takes me in terms of money earned

First Target is 230 000 hands by February 1st, im only on 26 000 atm but thats obviously because of the festive period slowing down games and my own commitments!

Ill update this once a week with my thoughts and graphs

It was a pretty awful month for a few reasons

I was massively below ev the whole time, pretty much every session i started $1k below so i was on constant tilt the whole month, i should have dealt with it better really because i used to be able too but thats that, -$12k below in the end, not too dramatic but tilting still!

I still shown a small profit for that amount of hands + the load of bonuses and race money and $20k is $20k but its below my target and half the money i made the previous month i played

I didnt play in October bar a few hands here and there at the star that i will dig up soon, less than 2 thousand hands though probably, unfortunately i got into my old habits a little and couldnt get myself to play

FUTURE PLANS:

play 180k hands December, January, February and march so 720k overall, see how much i make and make a new decision of what to do with bankroll from there

Fell slightly below my 150k hands and 150 hour targets but i had a few things going on this month

Towards the end of last month after stopping once again, not long after my last post in August, i gambled and spent a load of money, familiar story, and was feeling pretty down and started to realise my money is just going to dwindle if i dont get back into how i used to be.

My newest of new plans, 150k hands a month, 5k per day, which is 5hrs per day considering i 16 table, doesnt mean i have to do 5hrs every single day but as an average

6 max $2/$4 where i know i can make a lot of money over these samples

targets $30k per month, not really looking to move up for a long time, i know im comfortable and can win big at 2/4

So anyway this month ive kept to the plan 16 days in, and im enjoying it, my heads in the right place to keep doing this even when i have the bad sessions, if i keep this up month after month i can make an absolute ton of money

anyway, august i was down $1675 from poker, hardly played after the last post, september is when i started my new plan, on the 1st to give it the right feel, so far:

That graph also shows my ev, and im running pretty bad, i feel like its really bad, not just losing all the flips, its im getting coolered more than im coolering, it will change in time but atm im going through a mild bad patch in terms of luck, it can get worse! $5.7k down in my luck, could be worse

ill try and update as much as i can, after this month it should bring my year total so far too $100k which is good considering how much time ive had off, 6 months like this though with me putting the work in and i can make $200k or so, but we'[ll see, very early days!

This month ive jsut started and am playing everyday, i was about $1.6k up on the day but a long month ahead!

a more in depth update with proof of what i said above will follow, but this year is just not what i thought, everything i make im pretty much spending and hardly saving anything

i just got a new place in town (rented) finally finally moved out of the skyline not that its bad there, its pretty amazing but i was close to moving a few times previous so i felt like an idiot saying im moving again, but i am! monday and its all definitely done this time, moving to the great northern tower fwiw, amazing place there

so thats eaten up quite a bit of money plus general ridiculous spending and bills etc.. its just why i cant move up the stakes, im a bankroll nit as it is but you wouldnt believe just how much i spend, plus i havent played enough this year, my work ethic is nowhere near where my ambition is but im not doing the old i should work harder line cos this game does fuck you up mentally, a lot, i find it a little hard to take sometimes and i cant seem to keep a level head a lot, i do look forward to playing now but it needs to be structured and within a routine otherwise i cant focus, like i cant start playing on the 29th july, i have to wait til the 1st august cos otherwise its just weird.

anyway im about $66k (£40k) up or something to that effect up this year from poker and i have hardly played compared to last year, i wanted so much more, but thats a great amount, in this blog i just repeat myself really, a lot, im on course for another £100k year anyway which is brilliant

my plan is just to play every single day when i can, i cant even sit around these days and watch telly, i can, but i dont like it, unless its after a long session, ive literally forgotten how to relax, no matter where i am i cant relax

poker will make me miserable sometimes but without it id be completely miserable, i want to play so that the freedom i have never goes away

July i worked a little harder and had a tough month but pulled through in the end and came out with that £7 500 profit i mentioned at the start

i am playing again, i just stopped blogging and like going to the gym you can go go go but if u miss one you miss them for ages, i dont go gym btw, but i play 5 a side football loads, i think its the best thing i ever did when i started a few momths ago, nothing i enjoy more than playing football!

i played some live poker as well the other week which was fun, i should do that more, i played absolutely crazy but i still knew what i was doing and managed to run incredibly well until i had a hand where i didnt realise somebody else was in the hand and shoved all in vs my mate and this guy pops up "hello i have a hand too and it beats yours" so that sucked but i was up loads anyway and he only had £400, pointless story

Bad thing is im not doing quite as well as I usually do. About 4.5BB/100 atm which is actually fair enough really.

Sorry for the massively long time in between posts but as you might have guessed I didnt play in April, well i played about 5k hands, mainly HU and didnt get anywhere, about $2k up or something but not my usual way of playing, i was just messing around so didnt bother blogging. There was no structure to it, just played a little here and there.

Anyway im back on the grind this month, with a 120k hand target for this month and ive done 22k so far, ill posts results, hands and thoughts later! Just a quick update as to whats going on.

There has been a trend this year where I grind for one month and take the next off, and ill have to change that, although March was so heavy!

Im hoping to have another $20-$30k month this and pass the $100k for the year, then i have to take a shot at 5/10 upwards!

I really am aiming to move up the stakes but i am a massive bankroll nit, I like to have about 150-200 Buy ins for a level where as my mate Jamsym feels over rolled with 15! I just like feeling comfortable.

I save a lot and spend a lot of the money i earn, i spend about $10k a month and save the rest so i dont really keep an online roll most the time like most people, but i like to live and enjoy my life whilst im still young!

Slow progress but progress none the less and this year ive still had some pretty big months.

Anyways ive had some mega interesting hands so far that i have to post, ive really enjoyed playing so far this month!

Im $6.5k up so far this month fwiw, but ill post graphs and stats later for proof!

Not only did i not enjoy the games at full ring at all, it was a lot less profitable.

Since the last post I have only played a few k hands, i was too mentally exhausted to carry on, and finish competitively in the race, and tbh i was up enough all together than an extra $2k in race money wasnt too much to pass up. I had the bonus figures wrong in some previous posts, more than i thought.

Those are the results from hands ive played in the last few days on 6 max, having much much better results. The volume of hands is smaller because Ive been away for a few days seeing my girlfriend in london so could only sneak in a few k hands here and there. Im back home today though and i have grind on the mind.

Been a good few days on the tables though, but ive dropped to the $5 000 position in the race :( Although im sure there is an error with the leaderboard atm, I was in the 6k pos and miles ahead of next, anyway:

Well its been a long 8 days so far with plenty of ups and downs

Ive played a lot of full ring and to tell you the truth I hate it, I wanted to play it this month because its easy to 16 table, I can auto pilot at times and watch movies and tv which makes the grind less boring, however it does get real tiresome being scared when your KK gets 3 bet.

72k hands and $3.3k profit, thats just not on, luckily im earning a lot in bonuses and race pts so its still pretty nice tbh a good wage no doubt , had enough today after the swing at the end you can see and played just 6 max from 3pm onwards and had the following results:

lol well I am primarily a 6 max player, but the variance is very sick sometimes plus its very tiring, harder to 16 table, i stuck to 12 tables but its tiring and towards the end of sessions I make mistakes. Stopped for the day on a $1.5k downswing but still I cant argue with the day

Pretty tormenting day, an unreal amount of hands, a record for me actually but running so bad on the tables. Finished -$762. Was up $2k then down a lot, then even, went through the emotions!

PLaying 16 tables of full ring so im never gonna have a high win rate, and it is a very long grind. In January i made $15k from 45k hands but its not gonna be the same this month. I couldnt motivate myself, didnt play in February and i needed to do a big grind like this, as ive said before i just want my $20 000+ and i dont mind working hard for it. With 6 max there is a lot of variance, doing this with the bonuses makes the variance a lot smaller and i know if i put the time in i get good rewards. Ill be back to the easy street 6 max in future months, just want a big solid month like this behind me.

Having said that...

Which was more like it, I still feel like im running bad though, KK vs AA twice and AA vs KK lost, im not crying about it, I just think it shows I can make more in the future days.

Im very much on course for a $25k+ month but im gonna have to work for it, anyone who thinks i sit on my ass all day doing nothing (which is true most of the time but not this month!) this is insane work, 15 hr days non stop 16 tableing, highs and lows, its mentally exhuasting but so worth it at the end.
